   Results - System Integration

ECC provides prototypical implementations for

  • Management of Projects in Network of Companies
  • Management of Distributed Production Resources
  • Management information is provided through

  • coherent (building) object information along the entire process chain
  • sharing information upon customer interactions (such as offers submitted); available also as statistics
  • production status tracking across the sub-processes
  • Business functions are supported by five functional modules, also called ECC components.

Each one of these components is implemented on top of standard platform software. Implementations reflect requirements as specified by ECC partners:

  • Distributed Resource Management
  • Production Project Management
  • Marketing and Sales
  • Purchasing
  • Building Project Management
  • Information among these components is shared, i.e. communicated, through a connection layer called eccServer.

    eccServer

  • realizes integration at the level of data and thus guarantees a common base of knowledge across all ECC components
  • keeps available highly targeted functionalities as provided by the respective platform software
  • is based upon project standard for data exchange (XML)
  • encapsulates integration know-how and thus keeps this information away from applications
  • is prepared to connect increasing number of (pre-existing) applications in the network of companies
  • Shared entities in the ECC Network
We define the following data as shared data over the ECC-Project. This data can be divided into groups. These groups will be called Shared Entities. Generally we can assume, that each group will be placed in a table of the database of its applications.

    Company information
Company information are made of customers information and in case of companies of information about the head office of the company .

    Person information
The attributes of the Person are made of the contact persons information and of the relationship to a company.

    Offer information
Offer information are made of the first request of the customer until the completing of the offer (until it is printed) and of the offer items.

    Order information
Order information are made of the agreement and production planning information like costs, responsible persons, delivery date and address, items.

    Building Object information
Building Object information are made of building object name, address and description, customer and executives addresses, production dates, costs, production status, participants to the project (Architect, Customer).

    Purchase order information
Purchase orders contain information about the items that a construction company wishes to purchase from a particular supplier, supplier's information, shipping and billing address and contact details. The corresponding XML message is sent from the buyer's ERP to the purchasing system, as well as from the purchasing system to the document management system.

    Article information
Products of the networked companies are described in this entity, with master data, price information and attached product documents.

XML Templates of the Shared Entities
The following entities structures has been discussed and approved by all ECC partners and build standards for a ECC similar project. If a new partner is included in the ECC network, which may use other systems, this structures should be used as standards.

  • company.xml
  • person.xml
  • offer.xml
  • order.xml
  • object.xml (building Object)
  • article.xml
  • For purchase orders, a generic XML definition (cxml) has been used.
This is a widely accepted industry standard appropriate for ECC’s purposes.
Its definition can be found at : http://www.cxml.org).
For a better understanding, an example is listed here po.xml
