The ECC project comprises of 6 work packages

It starts with an analysis work package to adjust the sales and marketing processes of the SME proposers. This identifies the information sources and clarifies the business model for the virtual enterprise network. Already in this early project stage, a simple mock-up will be created to derive personnel´s feedback and ideas. In mapping user needs on information sources, the project will develop usage scenarios. These scenarios will be compared to best practices.

The second work package is aimed at specifying the functional requirements of IT-tools. Also the architecture which will be used for implementation, taking into account existing systems, existing methodologies and an intranet/internet based architecture. Major activities will focus upon the internal as well as the external workflow including group work and cooperation support.

Work package three comprises of the implementation and installation. Each one of the three construction companies aims to develop within this project a mostly generic solution but with a corporate identity, a common approach specialized to the company´s needs, different language, different country regulations.

An integration trial within each construction company with real users in real projects forms work package four. The consortium aims to validate the system through in-house use on live projects and to obtain feedback of the users to optimize the prototypes. Work package three and four are therefore closely related. After an early trial stage the prototypes will be refined.

Work package five will transfer the results to other organisational units. It also will address the integration of additional companies into virtual enterprise networks. This implies the transfer of results to non-partner companies.

The sixth work package comprises of the project co-ordination with regular meetings of the Project Steering Committee and the Technical Project Management Team as well as the relationship to the European Commission.
